IPTV Not Working? Fix Buffering and Errors

In this guide

Why is my IPTV not working?

Nine times out of ten it is one of four things: the login (typo or ended plan), the app (old cache or version), the home network (weak Wi-Fi or a busy connection in the evening) or a VPN or DNS setting. Go through the checks below in order; each one takes a minute, and the first ones fix most problems.

Work through these checks in order

    1. Is the plan or test still active? An “expired” or “authorization failed” message means the login itself.
    2. Retype the login. Check capitals, the http:// and the port in the server URL.
    3. Restart the app, then the TV or box (unplug it for 30 seconds).
    4. Restart the router. Unplug, wait 30 seconds, plug back in.
    5. Try a cable. Plug the box into the router with a network cable; Wi-Fi is the most common cause of buffering.
    6. Try another channel. If only one channel fails, it is that channel; tell your provider which one.
    7. Clear the app cache (Android: Settings › Apps › your app › Clear cache).
    8. Update the app, or reinstall it.
    9. Turn the VPN off (or on) and test again; some networks behave differently with one.
    10. Change DNS on the box or router to a public resolver, then restart.
    11. Check your speed on the same device: about 10 Mbps steady for HD and 25 Mbps for 4K per screen.
    12. Too many screens? Close the stream on other devices; plans allow a set number at once.

Match the symptom to the cause

    What you seeMost likely cause
Buffering only in the eveningBusy home internet or Wi-Fi; try a cable and a lower quality
Black screen, sound playsApp player setting; switch the decoder (hardware/software) in the app
Nothing loads at allLogin, server URL or internet down

Worked yesterday, “expired” todayThe plan or free test ended
Playlist vanished after plugging a cableThe app now shows another MAC; see the MAC guide

What to send support so they can fix it fast

    • The app name and the device (for example “Hot Player on an LG TV”).
    • What you see, ideally a photo of the error.
    • Which channel and at what time.
    • Whether you are on Wi-Fi or cable, and whether a VPN is on.

    Questions

How much speed does IPTV need?

As a rule of thumb, a steady 10 Mbps per HD screen and about 25 Mbps per 4K screen. Steady matters more than peak.

    Will a VPN fix buffering?

Sometimes, sometimes it makes it worse. Test both ways on the same channel.
