Which smart IPTV app should you install?

On a Samsung or LG smart TV, start with Hot Player (30 days free, runs on most TV brands) or Set IPTV (7 days free, then a one-time activation). On a Fire TV Stick or Android TV box, use Axon Player, OTT Navigator or Sparkle TV, which handle Xtream Codes logins, the TV guide and catch-up better than smart TV apps.

    How we compared the apps

    • Devices: which TVs and boxes the developer lists today.
    • Login types: Xtream Codes, M3U, MAC upload or portal.
    • Price model: free, yearly, one-time activation or in-app purchase.
    • Trial: whether you can try it before paying.
    • Guide and catch-up: how well it shows the TV guide and replays past shows.

We used the developers’ own websites and store listings for every fact in the table above, not other review sites.

Smart TV app vs Android TV app

Smart TV apps (Hot Player, Set IPTV, SS IPTV, Smart IPTV) are simple: you upload a playlist on their website and watch. Android TV apps (OTT Navigator, Sparkle TV, Axon Player) do more: they sign in with Xtream Codes, load the guide by themselves and support catch-up. If your TV feels limited, a Fire TV Stick or Android TV box plugged into it is the cheapest upgrade.

For Fire TV and Android TV we recommend Axon Player. It is free for its first 14 days, so your free test costs nothing, and paid after that. Install the Downloader app, enter code 7362822, or download the APK from http://axonplayer.com/axon.apk.

IPTV Insider makes none of these apps and is not paid by their makers. We sell the IPTV subscription; the app is the player you watch it in. Our logins work as Xtream Codes, M3U and MAG portal, so they fit every app on this page. Try one in your app with today’s free 24-hour test.

    Questions about smart IPTV apps

Is Smart IPTV the same as IPTV?

No. Smart IPTV (SIPTV) is one app. IPTV is the TV service you play in it. See our Smart IPTV setup guide.

    Do these apps include channels?

No. Every app here is a player; you add a subscription from a provider.

Which smart IPTV app is free?

OTT Navigator and Sparkle TV are free to install with paid extras. Hot Player and Set IPTV give a free trial, then charge per device.

Can I use one app on several TVs?

Most smart TV apps charge per TV, because activation is tied to the device’s MAC address. See IPTV MAC address.
